NY Day thirteen

27/4/2013

Today we are going to have a lesson with the great drummer Tom Rainey.
The weather is very nice, blue skies and the sun shines!

Later we will see Vijay Iyer solo, trio and sextet in Carnegie Hall!

Yesterday we had an extremely inspirational session/lesson with Ben Gerstein.
His website is http://www.bengerstein.com
Really feeling the flow.

We have been lucky to see three Steve Coleman shows at the Stone. Amazing bands! Happy to own the coming release of trumpeter Jonathan Finlayson and his Sicilian Defence.

Also a big up to our awesome host, the ever-generous Tyler Sussman! His apartment has been such a warm and relaxing atmosphere. Wish we could stay here for so much longer!

Tomorrow we move on to   m   A   n  h a  T  T  a  N

Thanks for dropping by my web.

Peace and love

NY - day eight

22/4/2013

Wow, the days go by fast!

We have seen some fantastic musicians. Lessons with Drew Gress, Matt Mitchell and Mark Helias, and concerts with Ben Monder trio, Tyshawn Sorey quintet with Masabumi Kikuchi and Anna Webber with her awesome band Percussive Mechanics.

We have also met this great saxophone player Danny Meyer, through our mutual friend Thomas Litleskare. His website is www.goteamband.com
Plans are being made, so stay put!

Later today we will meet Kris Davis and Gerald Cleaver. Gonna be cool.

Peace out!

NY - Day two

16/4/2013

Arrived yesterday, awesome place and host.

Nice neighborhood in Brooklyn, right by Prospect Park, with its beautiful cherry blossoms.

Today we had a great lesson with Ralph Alessi. Very inspiring.

Later this evening we will head over to The Fifth Estate to check out their Tuesday jam, which is supposed to be cool.

Going to fix myself an American phone number now. See ya!

New York is today!

For the next three weeks, NY is our home.

It's been nearly nine months of planning together with Andreas, and we've set some exciting plans.

However, we have set aside lots of time for exploring, so all NY tips are appreciated!

I will try to update this blog.

Thanks for reading!
